Curtis W. Clerkley, Jr., principal of The Clerkley Watkins Group, has a diverse background in architecture and planning.  His professional career spans over 35 years, with experience in various architectural and design disciplines, marketing and business development, project management, programming and space planning as well as construction administration. 

Curtis graduated from Texas Tech University in 1981 and went to work for Pierce, Goodwin & Alexander. He later joined Steinberg/Wallace and Associates, where he was first exposed to managing multi-family projects. Curtis later helped create the Meloni-Clerkley Partnership, and in 1986, Curtis established The Clerkley Group which transformed into The Clerkley Watkins Group in 2001 when Edward H. Watkins joined the firm as a principal.  

Project types for which Curtis has extensive architectural and design experience include student housing, multi-family housing, condominiums, townhomes, mixed-use development, high-end fitness facilities, active adult communities, and other miscellaneous project types. He is actively involved in the Houston community, volunteering and serving on numerous boards and committees.
